NATIONAL FINALS RODEO: Ticket exchange, 'Mad Dash' help more fans get in

Attending NFR still possible, despite sellout

REVIEW-JOURNAL

The 47th annual National Finals Rodeo at the Thomas & Mack Center has been sold out for months, but that doesn't mean you can't get a ticket.

The NFR Ticket Exchange booth will operate through Dec. 10 at the NFR Cowboy Christmas Gift Show in the Las Vegas Convention Center. The exchange provides an opportunity to match those looking to sell NFR tickets with those looking to purchase, and the price per ticket is $2 over face value.

NFR ticket-holders who want to return tickets for resale can drop them off from 9-10 a.m. daily and receive the face value of the tickets minus a $2 handling fee per ticket. Single tickets will not be accepted, and large amounts of tickets and Gold Buckle tickets will be accepted on consignment only.

Tickets can be purchased from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. through Dec. 10, the day before the NFR's final performance.

Only cash transactions are accepted.

j MAD DASH TICKETS -- If you want to be part of an NFR performance and like to gamble, then try the "Mad Dash 30" ticket program.

For $36.50, a Mad Dash ticket gets you into the Thomas & Mack for an NFR performance, and you have 30 minutes after the rodeo begins to find an unused seat in balcony sections.

The Mad Dash ticket-holder can sit in that seat for the duration of the rodeo, unless the original ticket holder claims that seat. If an open seat cannot be found within 30 minutes after the rodeo starts, the bearer may view the performance from televisions located on the concourse or get a refund at the Thomas & Mack ticket office.

To purchase Mad Dash tickets, go to the T&M ticket office or call (866) 388-3267.

For more NFR information, go to NFRexperience.com or ProRodeo.com.

Veteran Joe Baumgartner of Red Bluff, Calif., will serve as the alternate.

Bob Tallman, a Nevada native, will announce the NFR for the 10th straight year and 19th overall. He will be joined by Boyd Polhamus of Brenham, Texas, working the event for the 10th time. Randy Corley of Silverdale, Wash., is the alternate.

Others selected for key NFR positions included: Vickie Shireman, secretary; Jason Bottoms and Billy Ward, pick-up men; John Farris, timed event chute boss; and Darrell Barron, riding event chute boss.

j COWBOY CHRISTMAS -- The NFR Cowboy Christmas Gift Show runs through Dec. 10 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Las Vegas Convention Center, located at Paradise Road and Desert Inn, east of Las Vegas Boulevard. Admission is free.

More than 400 vendors from across the United States and Canada participate in the western-oriented gift show, which features western wear, leather goods, hats, belts, buckles, boots and spurs, custom jewelry, Southwest Indian arts, crafts, pottery, furniture and NFR souvenirs.

Each day includes entertainment, contestant and celebrity autograph sessions, fashion shows and a replay of the previous night's NFR performance shown on a big screen television.
